We anticipate CyberLandr™ will be ready for delivery approximately when Tesla begins producing and shipping CyberTruck to its list of reserved purchases.
Can I enter the CyberLandr Giveaway contest more than once?
Yes, but the easier approach to increasing your chances is to simply use the referral link we shared to you in the content entry confirmation to share on social media sites and with your friends. This page makes it easy and the best way to get to that page is to enter your email address that you used to originally register for the giveaway.
Where do the mountain bikes and skis fit?
They don't - the entire vault is where CyberLandr™ rides opened or closed. So, you'll need a hitch attachment for bikes, skis, and even a paddle-board. There are several coming to market.
Will there be heating and cooling inside the CyberLandr?
Yes. There is both air-conditioning and heating capabilities. We plan to use an HRV/ERV for continuous circulation and up to 80% energy recovery. This would dramatically decrease heating and cooling loads and conserve a lot of energy. Finding the right design choice is currently in progress.
While we can't provide performance estimates yet, a thermal analysis is planned before we go into production. The CyberLandr uses the Cybertruck's battery, so the larger the battery the longer you can stay out in cold weather. If you are able to charge closer to where you will be camping you will have more charge available. Obviously, sunny days will help with solar power generation, but on really cold days you will use much more power than you can generate (partly because the sun is low and the days are shorter).
We are doing our best to maximize the efficiency for heating and cooling, and part of that solution is insulation in the floor and ceiling of CyberLandr™. And the composite panels are natural insulators with no thermal bridges.
We will provide updates regularly as we near production.
Can the CyberLandr™ be removed and reinstalled easily?
An optional dolly will be available to remove and move the CyberLandr around. We will unveil the dolly before we begin production. The CyberLandr can be stored indoors or outdoors.
Will it be possible to upgrade the amount of the deposit as more information and features are released and demonstrated?
We are considering doing that as a one-time option before production begins and after the specifications are finalized.
Does CyberLandr™ have it's own battery?
Elon recently confirmed the Cybertruck will be the first Tesla to support bi-directional power (even when the Cybertruck is turned off) which will allow us to pull power from the Cybertruck's battery, and use the CyberLandr's solar panels to recharge the Cybertruck.
Are you using rotomolded tanks or bladders for water and grey water?
The tanks will either be rotomolded or stainless steel. That material decision will partly depend on the insulation we put around it. There is one insulation that provides 5x the insulation per inch, but costs 10x. Once we complete the cost benefit analysis we will know which insulation and tank material we will use. We are favoring the more expensive insulation because it saves energy heating and cooling the water.
How does the dry-flush toilet work?
Dry flush toilets have a very long bag and each flush twists and seals the bag to isolate the waste. Each bag is good for 12-15 flushes, then you lift the lid to find the flushing bag sits inside a large garbage liner. You lift the garbage liner and twist it closed and then you can dispose of the bag in any trash bin just like you would a diaper.
How does the shower work?
The recirculating shower recycles the water from the shower and passes it through a four stage filter that includes UV light sanitization. This design allows us to use a relatively small fresh water tank to act like a very large fresh water tank, but without all the added weight. Theoretically, you could take an endless hot shower and we're certain someone will test this theory.
How will users access the under-vault storage locker on the Cybertruck?
When CyberLandr™ is installed there is no access to that storage. This is where CyberLandr's water tanks, pumps, and etc are stored. Since there is no way to conveniently access that space with a camper in the bed, we decided to make excellent use of it and keep the weight of the tanks as low as possible to improve stability and lower the center of gravity.
Do I have to take delivery of CyberLandr before my CyberTruck is available to me?
No. One of the nice things about our reservation system is that it matches the Tesla approach. You are free to complete your CyberLandr™ purchase when you actually have your CyberTruck to install it into. With all of the unknowns concerning CyberTruck's production timeline, we are making it as flexible as possible for truck buyers to marry CyberLandr™ with their vehicle as soon as it comes off Tesla's production line. This is why we will be manufacturing CyberLandr™ in Giga, Texas.
How many watts does the solar array put out?
The specs are not finalized on the exact array components but it is planned to have at least 500 watts and maybe higher.
How much insulation does CyberLandr walls provide?
The panels are 1/2" high density composite that is difficult to relate to an R-factor, however, these panels have no conductive bridge which is the better way to describe insulation priorities. We believe our materials choice is ideal for weight, strength, heating/cooling, and durability.
Does CyberLandr™ have a leveling feature?
It doesn't need one because the CyberTruck does this using its onboard air suspension system.
Is my reservation deposit refundable?
Until your CyberLandr purchase is finalized, you may cancel your pre-order reservation at any time, in which case you will receive a full refund of your Pre-Order Reservation Payment. We will ask you to finalize your purchase when we are ready to build your CyberLandr™ and the final production specifications are complete.
What size is the [sleeping] bed in the CyberLandr?
It is an a "RV queen" size which is 60" wide but less than a standard length. Actual dimensions are not fully known because CyberTruck dimensions are not yet published. RV queen beds are typically the same 60" wide as a standard queen, but are shorter than the standard 80".
Who makes CyberLandr™? Is CyberLandr the product or the company?
CyberLandr™ is designed and built by Stream It, Inc. (streamit.live), a Las Vegas company.
Do I have to store my dishes and other CyberLandr things in my frunk?
No. CyberLandr™ has adequate storage for all your typical items that would be needed and holds them even when the CyberLandr™ is collapsed and stored.
What is the weight of the CyberLandr?
1200 lbs dry.
Can you deploy or stow CyberLandr when there’s snow or ice on it?
Yes. If CyberLandr™ is inside the vault, you need to remove snow and ice before opening the vault. If it is deployed, you need to sweep off the solar panels before closing it into the vault.
Does the weight of CyberLandr affect the range of the CyberTruck?
Yes. Everything inside the truck impacts range to a small degree. And the range of CyberTruck depends on many factors - speed, elevation climb, load. CyberLandr™ is about 1/3 of the total weight the truck can carry in the bed so it affects range approximately 5%.
Can I enter the Giveaway if I live in Canada?
Can I purchase a CyberLandr reservation if I live in Canada?
Yes. We plan to make CyberLandr™ available in Canada as soon as Tesla sells the CyberTruck in Canada.
Where do we store the camping gear?
Some of the traditional camping gear vanishes like the need to carry big water containers and propane, etc. CyberLandr™ also has a small fridge - best to stock it ahead of time, so it will handle some of the food. Dishes and bedding are all stored in the under-sink cabinet in the CyberLandr™. The chairs all fit inside the CyberLandr™ even when it's collapsed and can be used outside as well. The TV fits inside the CyberLandr™. You can also replenish the clear drinking water by pouring river or tap or lake water down the drain in either of the sinks - it will be filtered into drinking water in a few minutes (i.e. gray-to-clear). There might be a little room available in the CyberLandr™ for pillows or sleeping bags or a small tent, but that's about all you can plan to load inside. Bikes, paddle-boards, etc go on a trailer hitch, and everything else goes into the frunk or in some unspecified storage capabilities that Tesla has not yet finalized. For example, a rumored center-fold down front seat, a pass-through for extra-long cargo, storage underneath the vault bed.
Does the price include a Tesla CyberTruck?
Is CyberLandr shipped to the customer and then installed in a DIY fashion?
It can be, but we would prefer to install it for you - that's our current plan. Our factory will be down the street from the Tesla factory in Giga, Texas and ideally we will install your CyberLandr™ within hours of it rolling off the production line. And we encourage you to do that with us if you happen to be picking up your CyberTruck in person, or we can intercede the shipping of your CyberTruck and perform the install and send it on its way with Tesla delivery. The exact approach won't be known until we get closer to production of CyberLandr™.
The specs say there are two water tanks; 40 gal fresh, and 20 gal grey. Is there also a hot water tank?
No. Hot water is generated instantly inline.
Is the filtered grey water returned to the fresh water tank?
Do the windows open?
Yes. Like an awning style so that in rain, you can still have fresh air.
Does Cybertruck's body have to be modified to accommodate the Cyberlandr?
Can I stow sports gear in the CyberLandr™?
CyberLandr™ fully compresses into CyberTruck's vault leaving almost no room, so think about clever hitch attachments, low profile toy trailers, or swing-over vault attachments and of course, the frunk which is cavernous.
Are you designing CyberLandr™ based on a CyberTruck prototype?
Aftermarket suppliers do not have CyberTruck prototypes [yet], so everything must be based on engineering schema with known measurements shared by Tesla. Our prototypes do not start with artist renderings; rather, they begin from engineering specifications which are translated into video renderings with precise replication. These are simulations based on exact measurements and data. In a fully software-defined product (like all of Tesla's products), the same specifications guide all aspect of prototype development and even assembly-line manufacturing. This allows us to design well ahead of known details from Tesla and is especially helpful when Tesla announces changes.
Is there a water hookup and grey water drain?
We will continue to release details and specifications as we get closer to production and as Tesla releases final specifications for the Cybertruck.
Will CyberLandr™ be available in Australia?
We love Australia and your overlanding culture and very much want to be a part of it. We will try to make CyberLandr available in Australia as soon as the Cybertruck is available there if there is sufficient interest by Australians. As we get closer to Cybertruck availability in Australia, we will actively promote CyberLandr to assess the demand. If you have ideas on the best ways to promote and build demand for CyberLandr in Australia, we would love to hear your thoughts (email@example.com).
How tall will CyberLandr™ be when fully deployed?
We are waiting on Tesla's final specifications so we can provide more accurate specifications ourselves. However, I would estimate the height to be just under 11 feet at the front peak. So it should comfortably fit fully deployed under most RV carports since RVs can legally be up to 13'6" high and most RV carports are 14' high to accommodate the legal limit.
When will the CyberLandr™ prototype be completed?
There will be many prototypes before we ship. We will share info about some of those with the CyberLandr community (reservation holders). And we will unveil the final production prototype publicly before production begins.
Will CyberLandr™ be suitable for renting to others like in an AirBnB property?
Yes, a mobile Air BnB capability has been on our minds as well from the early days of the design. While we are definitely working towards that, I can't yet tell you with any certainty when our software will support that or what the general features will offer. Our goal is to provide many ways for CyberLandr™ owners to maximize their investment.
How durable will CyberLandr™ be?
Simply, CyberLandr™ is built to last! It will have one of the best warranties in the industry to back that up, including a 10 year no-leak roof warranty. But in truth, the roof is designed to last 2-3x that long without issue. This is made possible by the top and bottom segments of CyberLandr being coated in an aliphatic bed liner material that is designed to have little to no fade or chalking even after 20+ years of normal use. Equally important is maintainability. Most RVs are made of the least expensive components the manufacturer can find. Those components then require a lot of labor to assemble. We have taken the opposite approach, we use premium materials designed to minimize the amount of labor and maintenance. This shows up in subtle ways such as our hybrid glass windows. The windows themselves are made of ABS plastic like most RVs, but we put a thin film of extremely scratch resistant and almost indestructible glass on top of that (similar to smartphone screen protectors) so the windows can be washed with any cleaner or cloth just like normal windows instead of requiring microfibre cloths and special cleaners like other RVs. Subtle details like this, and dozens more like quality Moen faucets, porcelain floors and counters, and scratch resistant and easy cleaning walls reduce maintenance and downtime while helping to keep CyberLandr looking new for many years to come.
Can the dry-flush toilet be removed?
Yes! The dry flush toilet is free standing and therefore easily removable so you can replace it with a cassette toilet should that be your preference or with nothing at all if that floats your boat. ;-)
What does CyberLandr™ do to help me get over range anxiety in the wilderness?
The CyberLandr shares the existing Cybertruck battery. This is done for several reasons:
Tesla has the best batteries
It saves space and weight
The Cybertruck's batteries are conditioned (kept at the appropriate temperatures)
We arbitrarily set the capacity at 20kWh so that people would realize there is a lot of power available, without pretending we could use all of the available capacity.
The best way to avoid range anxiety is to purchase the tri-motor Cybertruck with the largest capacity battery. I suspect most of your range anxiety will go away after you have gone camping/overlanding a few times and have a better feel for power consumption. For example, the Model 3 has about 300 miles of range at 65 mph. That range drops significantly at 80 mph, but rises dramatically to around 600 miles at 42 mph.
Since most narrow road and off-road driving is done at lower speeds you will likely get more range than you expected. Also, keep in mind that you do not have to charge at a SuperCharger—any electrical outlet can work, it just takes longer. So you could schedule a night at an RV park once a week, or even a night at a hotel that has electric car charging to charge the battery without having to drive all the way to a SuperCharger. PlugShare is a great app for seeing all of the available chargers in a given area.
In any event, we will continue to work on a higher wattage option for the solar panels.
